summer (book) lovin'

from top to bottom: library, brother's bookshelf, amazon, amazon, library

Crammed schedules during the school year allow for little to no spare time, and such spare time is often spent either taking naps, hanging out with friends, watching TV, or using the computer. Literature outside of our assigned schoolwork is forgotten in a haze of studying and socializing. While some high schoolers like myself genuinely try to read while school is in session, it is very difficult. Instead, I amass huge lists of book titles that I want to read eventually.

But finally, it's summer. I have as much free time as I want to have, and I can spend part of it reading books! I'm not sure if these are all the books I'm going to read this summer, but I will read them for sure. They are:
  1. The Sirens of Titan by Kurt Vonnegut (I'm almost done with this one!)
  2. Cat's Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut
  3. Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami
  4. The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle by Haruki Murakami
  5. Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore by Robin Sloan
  6. The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas (not pictured; summer reading)
I'm really looking forward to reading these! What will you be reading over the summer? Catch you on the flipside.

lacy days and steamed pork buns

Sundays are always A) sunny and B) lazy. Today happened to be particularly sunny and particularly lazy, so I decided to wear the new high-low tank that I bought yesterday. I already love it: The lace on the back is lovely enough, but part of the lace cuts into the front as well. Plus, the length of the shirt at the back makes it look whimsical in the wind. Digging it. Adding on my handy dandy oversized shades, my staple bronze necklace, and a pair of super comfy wedges completed the look.

So yeah, nothing extravagant or complicated today. Sundays aren't days for concerning yourself with what you're going to wear. Instead, they're days for basking in the sunlight and steamed pork buns. Hope your Sunday was as laid-back (and delicious) as mine! Catch you on the flipside.

wit beyond measure

h&m army jacket // h&m dress // harry potter world tie// f21 shades // nordstrom combat boots

Hey guys, I'm Dana. Welcome to my blog! Here you'll find OOTDs (on the days that I decide to dress up nicely), bits of advice, some music, and perhaps a work of art or writing. Who knows. It's a great big motley crew of stuff in here. Anyway, I'm 14 years old and I'm from a small town by San Francisco. I love to read and write and play guitar and drink coffee. My laptop is my best and only friend  I take too many pictures on my Nikon D90 (and occasionally, my mom's D600). And, most importantly, I'm excited to be blogging here!

Here in the SF Bay, we have extremely low temperature tolerance. Anything above or below the comfortable 60 degrees and we flip out. So while 72 degrees doesn't seem too bad for most, it's pretty bad for us in the west used to the Pacific breeze. Thus, I snagged the opportunity to pull on a dress (which was 20 dollars at H&M) and recommission my oversized sunglasses. I threw on my handy-dandy army jacket to account for air-conditioning and added a loosened Ravenclaw tie to jazz it up a little and rep my house. (Wit beyond measure is man's greatest treasure.) At last, I slipped into my trusty and abused black combat boots and was ready for some serious tromping!

Whilst tromping, I happened to stop by Nordstrom Rack (my home away from home) and pick up some summer necessities:

mint high-low lace/chiffon tank // paisley denim shorts // black converse

It's beginning to look a lot like summer! Happy June, everybody. Catch you on the flipside.
